So I have been meaning to write this up so those looking to use electrolysis can have a basis for research that they can expound upon further.

My reference materials

My reference materials

Outside of a few consults I have these two brochures to give basic knowledge on what I had done.  Everyone has their own experience but I will be giving you all mine and what it is that I learned so far that was helpful  to me.

So we will start with the ‘Why Choose Electrolysis?’ brochure. Firstly,  electrolysis  is the only method approved by the FDA  for permanent removal of unwanted hair. You can quickly  verify this with a Google search.

The brochure opens with essential facts:

Q. what is electrolysis?

A. Electrology is the science of permanent hair removal. Using state of the art technology, a minute amount of electricity is gently applied to the base of the hair follicle. This process destroys the hair growth tissue. Therefore, the regenerative ability of the hair follicle is permanently eliminated. Electrolysis is essential to realizing the look you want and is more effective than ever before. Let electrolysis work it’s wonders for you.

Q. Why should I choose electrolysis over other hair removal methods?

A. If you want permanent hair removal, Electrology is the only way to achieve this goal.

Q. Why should I choose electrolysis over other temporary methods like laser and waxing?

A. Unlike other hair removal options, professionally performed electrolysis eliminates unwanted hair; permanently, with unsurpassed results. Moreover, it does so for the largest variety of skin and hair types. Laser promoters compare laser to electrolysis although laser assisted hair removal is considered temporary for long term safety of the patients skin and health. Waxing, threading,  and tweezing alike. However, ingrown hairs and discoloration may result. Additionally, they may cause an increase in hair growth activity. Depilatories and shaving can cause an irritation to the skin while the hair regrows quickly. These methods can require a lifetime of maintenence. Many can appear inexpensive but cost more due to long term use and are found to be inconvenient. Electrolysis works in most areas of the body to give you smooth, sleek healthy looking skin. No other solution claims such universal acceptability and success.

Q. Do electrologists follow appropriate Infection Control?

A.  The  American Electrology Association has written Infection Control Standards following the most recent recommendations from the Center for  Disease Control (CDC), the  Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA),  and the Association for Practitioners in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).

Q. How many treatments are required?  A. The number of  treatments necessary varies with each client. Treatment sessions can range from 15 minutes to more than an hour depending on the area being treated.  Factors  such as hair growth cycles, the quantity and structure of hair presented, previous use of temporary hair removal methods, heredity, hormone function, certain medication and stress influence the treatment program for each individual. Electrolysis is effective on all skin and hair types. No other hair removal solution can claim suck universal acceptability and success.

Q. What is the normal growth cycle of a hair?

A. Hairs have differing cycles of growth, many of which are not visible on the surface of the skin at the same time. The follicle produces the hair from the blood supply, and discards it eventually through shedding. The process of growth, rest,  and replacement are known as the hair growth cycle. The sequence of events is repeated constantly until the hair ceases to be formed.

Q. What does electrolysis feel like?

A.  Most clients find electrolysis to be a comfortable experience. With continually advancing technology, equipment, and treatment protocols, electrolysis is more comfortable and effective than ever before.  Electrolysis can help you transform through smooth hair free skin.

Q. Does electrolysis have any side effects on the skin?

A. Immediately following treatment, there may be slight redness, which varies with each individual. Your electrologist will provide you with post treatment instructions and the personal attention you need. You are assured of the best care from a skilled hair removal professional.

Q. Can unwanted hair be removed from anywhere on the body?

A. Electrolysis works on all skin and hair types. It can be applied to most facial and body parts, including: eyebrows, chin, upper and lower lip, jaw line and sides of the face, breast & underarms,  abdomen, bikini line, legs and back. Based on a personal and confidential consultation, your electrologist will design a treatment plan that addresses your specific hair removal needs. There is no better solution than electrolysis, a treatment that’s as individual add you are.

Q.  Can women begin our have electrolysis treatments during pregnancy?

A. Unwanted hair can be caused by hormonal changes brought on by pregnancy.  Electrolysis can be performed on any normal skin. This includes pregnant women. We suggest that your see-through advice of your physician before beginning treatment. Electrolysis can enhance your natural beauty with smooth, hair free and healthy looking sling for a glowing look that’s uniquely you!

Q. Can hairs be removed from moles?

A. Electrolysis can be performed in most moles where States allow it.  Your Electrologist may require written approval from your physician.

So from this you have a pretty basic knowledge  of what’s going on here. Next we will look at the specific machine used in my treatment. There are different  machines, some more high end than others.  I go to an electrologist that believes her clients deserve the best treatment equipment for the best long-term results, meaning she’s invested the money for the latest equipment  from Apilus platinum to surgical loops (glasses surgeons use during surgery which allows her to view every last hair whish is awesome she doesn’t miss a thing). In turn my treatments  have been virtually  pain free (to the point I’m fighting dozing off during my 2-3 hour sessions),  I would compare it to the feeling I had when my nerves in my chest were waking up.  That weird sharp twinge that lasted for all of 5 secs then it’s done.

So on to the equipment…

I am currently being treated with the ‘Apilus Platinum 27 MHz’  considered “The Epilator of the 21st century”.

So as to this brochures contents-

100% effective treatments:

After more than  125 years,  electrolysis still remains the only  100% effective method of permanent hair removal for all skin and hair types. Other hair removal methods currently offered on the market, such as laser, are applied in the skin surface and detect the hair thanks to its pigmentation (color). However, for effective hair reduction, these methods require a strong contrast between the skin color (light) and the hair color (dark). Electrolysis, on the other hand, directly targets the hair follicle from the inside, leading to complete destruction of the cells responsible for hair growth while protecting the skin surface.  So, whether your hair is white,  blond, red,or brown, and whether your fair or dark skinned, electrolysis treatments with the Apilus platinum ™ 27 MHz ultra rapid epileptic will deliver maximum results.

Q.  How does an electrolysis session unfold?

After performing a consultation, the electrologist disinfects the client’s skin and adjusts the required parameters on the Apilus® based on the area and the type of hair to treat. During the hair removal process  per se, the electrologist slips a minute probe into the hair follicle, which the client will not feel. Then, ultrarapid current is applied and the electrologist removes the hair with a pair of tweezers, encountering no resistance. Of course, the use of gloves and disposable  probes is critical.

Scientific Support: (which for many like myself I wanted proof this was going to work not just  hear say.  A hairy penis nor urethra are on my to do list post op)

Electrolysis supported by scientific proof

Electrolysis supported by scientific proof

See for yourself the impressive results obtained on a hair following treatments performed with  Apilus platinum 27 MHz ultrarapid  electrolysis device, compared to the results of laser treatments. The results are shown here on a cross-section of a hair follicle, and were obtained within the scope of a cooperation with  Doctor Doillon, research scientist and professor at the  Laval University Hospital Centre (CHUL) in  Quebec City (Canada).

Destruction produced by the laser (fig. 1)during a standard treatment is limited, as shown by the irregular distribution of lesions (dark purple)  around the hair follicle. Thus, several cells responsible for hair growth remain intact. On the other hand,  figure  2 shows that  lesions produced by the Apilus platinum 27 MHz during a standard treatment are widespread and evenly distributed. Need we say  more?

Apilus® Platinum™ Technology:

Apilus platinum

Apilus platinum

The  world exclusive design of the Apilus platinum uses an ultrarapid 27 MHz frequency to permanently and rapidly destroy all the hair types. This  thanks to its frequency, which is twice as fast as any other epilator on the market and it’s innovative modes such as PicoFlash ™ and Synchro ™,  the Apilus platinum is able to coagulated in a very concentrated fashion the cells responsible for hair growth, thereby providing incomparable effectiveness and comfort (*I can vouch for this part TOTALLY TRUTHFUL 😎👍*) .

Apilus computerized epilators use advanced technology that has stood the test of time. For more than 15 years, thousands of Apilus systems have been used throughout the world, to offer high performance hair removal treatment that yield  permanent results with a gentle touch.

Unrivaled Comfort:

The designers of Apilus platinum have thought of everything, from the start of a treatment session to the final touch. So, after your hair removal season, why not treat yourself to an ionotophoresis treatment along with an active  vibro-massage! This Post-Epilatory Care, performed with the  VitaPhase™ IM on the  Apilus platinum, helps to soothe the skin, provides an antibacterial effect and promotes speedier cutaneous regeneration. Furthermore, combined with  vibro-massage function, it enahances the penetration of active ingredients applied on your skin.  Don’t you think you’re entitled to this little extra!? (*Yes and it feels freaking awesometastical! 😎🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟)

And there we have it a total break down of the things that I have learned thus far about my treatment programs.  Now I would like to warn others of the more painful electrolysis beat kept me in fear for a long while. There is another method called Galvanic electrolysis  normally using 12,14, or 16 needles at once.  Which stay in the skin 4 mins (yes all those in at one for 4 mins). Watching Galvanic  being done on a buddy of mine I now understand  why they were giving out  Norco for hair removal (I take two ibuprofen and use lidocaine  5% before my session and am fine).  So be weary  during your  consult  openly ask what method and machine a provider  is using. If you would like to see for yourself  what this older machine looks like  Google this phrase:

’12 needle  electrolysis’

click  on the first video  from 2009 and we’ll yea youll get what I’m saying. In 4 mind time Apilus cleared the entire lower portion of my leg and we were already working up the rest of my thigh. I have had 6 sessions no less than 2 hours each session.  Most doing galvanic  can not isn’t more than 30-45 mind due to the extensive pain.

Hopefully  this has been useful to those that are seeking electrolysis as a preparation  for GPS or just in general.

Until next time,

Wa salaam
